Influence of Korea Culture and K-Pop on Visual Culture

South Korea is a country full of entertainment, everyone there is really hype about stars therefore, there is a lot of competitions in the all industries and all of it are amazingly intensed. This is the reason that people from around the world continuously see the culture, entertainment and trend from this country. The intensity in entertainment industry has been started since around fifteen to twenty years ago. The thing that started to make South Korea’s entertainment industry famous is the drama.

After that it was the South Korea’s music industry which was getting more and more attention from the world. By bringing new perspective to the world of music with a girls group and boys band consists of four to ten people. Most of the song are electrical pop dance type and the choreography of the singers is also the part that bring korean music to international level. The song that really made an impact is called ‘Gee’ from a girls group called ‘Girl Generation’ consists of eight stunningly beautiful girl. With a fresh style of music and cute dance moves make this so popular across the world. Korean song become so popular in Asia, numbers of fans-based rapidly increase and Western started to know and appreciate the song from South Korea. There are many well known song came out from South Korea after ‘Gee’ such as ‘Tell me’ , ‘Nobody’ from a girl group called ‘Wonder Girls’ and ‘Sorry Sorry’ from a boys group called ‘Super Junior’.

From there on, Korea’s culture continuously showing its good traits whether from the drama, songs, or trends. And then it happened, a song which is considered as the most phenomenal one released in December 2012, ‘Gangnam Style’ was its name. When it was released, it became a trend simultaneously. The ‘Horse-riding’ move is the move that everyone in the world tried to follow. The Gangnam Style flashmob was everywhere all over the place, the parody, the song covered in many languages, it was a phenomenon. Three years has passed since it first released, there are around 2.4 billion clicks in youtube from every part of the world.

From this point, the whole world keep an eye on the south korean music industry and also the culture. There is also something that people outside Korea has adopted from korean culture and that is perspective in surgery. Korea is considered as the country that has many percent of people doing a surgery. As I mentioned that, Korean entertainment industry is very intense so if you are not beautiful or handsome enough, you won’t last long in the industry. That’s why many Korean people have to do a surgery for their career path and also their life. Korean people think that surgery is a very common thing to do since you are around fifteen or more. From this matter, Thai people as for example also view surgery in a different way from before. Before Korean culture came in, there is a few percentage of people doing a surgery but after it came, the number is increased quite a lot. Some Thai people goes to South Korea just to do a surgery and this perspective goes for many countries not just Thailand.
